Providing a timely response to an inquiry, professional or personal, is an excellent practice no matter the situation. In online courses, timeliness in responding to online group discussions or questions between you and the instructor or between you and other students develops strong online relationships with those who you will be working with throughout the class and who may become professional resources. Being connected from the beginning and staying connected helps:When anyone is given more flexibility and convenience, as online courses and programs inherently provide, more responsibility is given, too. As an online learner it takes a great deal of effort and self discipline to remain committed to your learning and to keep yourself motivated. A key to online student success is to continually identify ways to remain SELF MOTIVATED when you begin to feel like it is too much and SELF DISCIPLINED to remain focused on your goal and keep your course work moving forward. Self discipline is a series of habits that helps you succeed and achieve your goals.

The other was a lottery betting pool he wanted to start. The dorm, a four story building known as Random Hall, was packed with computer science and engineering majors. It had a custom lab in the basement and a student coded website that tracked when the dorms washing machines and bathrooms were in use. Harveys Super Bowl party had little appeal in Random Hall, but people sparked to his lottery idea. A mathematics major in his final semester, Harvey had been researching lottery games for an independent study project, comparing the popular multistate games Powerball and MegaMillions to see which offered players a better shot at winning. Hed also analyzed different state games, including Cash WinFall, and it hadnt taken him long to spot its flaw: On a roll down week, a $2 lottery ticket was worth more than $2, mathematically.

Rather than building one lighting system for Canada, where DRLs are mandated, and a different system for the US market, GM decided to save a few bucks by just installing the DRL equipped system on both the US and Canadian models. One of the only large scale U. S. studies completed and published on the effects of DRLs as safety devices was conducted by the insurance industrys Highway Loss Data Institute. The results; vehicles equipped with DRLs were involved in more accidents than similar vehicles without DRLs. The difference was minimal, but the meaning was straight forward. DRLs aggravate other motorists, obscure directional lights, waste fuel, mask other road users that dont have headlights on, or dont have headlights period pedestrians and bicyclists and their net effect on accident reduction is zero or worse. Because DRLs negatively affect other motorists, they should be omitted from all new cars by government mandate. Furthermore, all states should explore legislation that limits daytime headlight use to low beam or parking lights. The government, in concert with various corporate interests has sold the driving public a bill of goods that doesnt live up to its advertised claims. It seems only fair that the government and the same corporate interests undo the damage they have done.

And the Somali community had its own problems. Ali Khan was not able to get everyone on board, and many of the absences were glaring. The new Gatineau mosque; the Assalam mosque on St. Laurent Boulevard, where more than 1,500 pray every Friday; the Guyanese Caribbean Muslim Association and the Dar Assunah mosque all declined. Worse, the citys oldest and most influential mosque had not joined, even though Ali Khans new group was meeting in the mosques hall. The Ottawa Muslim Association, which Ali Khan had once led, had just been through vicious infighting over the imam, the spiritual leader of the congregation. One faction of the mosques board called for a North American who could speak clear English. Another defended the imam sent from Egypt, a young man educated at one of Islams most respected universities. The association sent its polite regrets: it would attend to its own affairs this year. For more than four decades in Ottawa, Ali Khan had received virtually every award for his commitment to community and interfaith understanding, culminating in last years induction into the Order of Canada. But he believed this project could be the most important yet.
